On July 30, 2022, at approximately 11:52 pm, Dallas Police were called to a shooting in the 2000 block of Keats, in a field near Texas Street. When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old Isarel Martinez in the field with multiple gunshot wounds.
Martinez was taken to a local hospital where he died.
The preliminary investigation determined Martinez came to the location after a fight broke out at the scene involving 24-year-old Jacob Bautista. Martinez shows a gun and points it at others at the scene and hands it to Bautista. Bautista then pistol whips the person he is fighting with.
An individual in the crowd, believing they would kill the person they were fighting fired several rounds, hitting both Martinez and Bautista.
Martinez and Bautista were transported to a local hospital.
Martinez died from his injuries, Bautista was treated for his injuries.
The case will be referred to the Dallas County Grand Jury.
Bautista was charged with Aggravated Assault documented in case number 137917-2022.
The investigation is ongoing.
