Congratulations to Police Officer Steven Jankowski, #6656, who was named June’s Officer of the Month by the Dallas Community Police Awards Committee. On June 21, 2021, the committee held a luncheon at the Scottish Rite Hospital to honor Officer Jankowski for his outstanding work ethics, selflessness, and loyalty to his oath to protect and serve.

Officer Jankowski, a 31-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department, has worked at the Love Field Unit since 2014, where he serves as a dispatcher. He has displayed his knowledge and skills in managing multiple computer systems, a complex camera system, and controlling three separate radios while maintaining the phones during high-stress and time-sensitive incidents.

Aside from his impeccable dispatching, he has also worked countless hours backtracking videos to locate suspects or evidence from incidents that occurred outside his normal duty hours. Officer Jankowski excels and exceeds in all aspects of his job. He has proven to be a reliable and almost irreplaceable asset to the Love Field Unit.

Officer Jankowski has received 55 commendations for professionalism, dedication to duty, exceptional arrests, and teamwork. Many of his accolades come from citizens, outside businesses, and other departments.

His direct supervisor, Sergeant Casey Erwin, expressed, ”I believe Officer Jankowski is qualified for this award, but what makes him stand out among his co-workers is his demeanor. You can always count on a smile or joke from him no matter how difficult or long the day will be. His approachability and knowledge makes him a natural leader that many troops regularly look to for guidance.”
