A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy was sitting in his patrol car outside the Palmdale station Saturday night when a man came up and fired multiple rounds at him.
According to KABC, Dep. Ryan Clinkunbroomer was pronounced dead at the scene. The 30-year-old field patrol officer was found unconscious by a Good Samaritan who called 911.
Sheriff Robert Luna is calling for public assistance in locating the suspect, though details of the gunman are limited. Sheriff Luna says he believes there is a video showing the attack, though it has not been released as of yet.
Clinkunbroomer has been with the department for eight years and was stationed at Palmdale for at least five years. He came from a law enforcement family with both his father and grandfather having served in the LA County Sheriff’s Office.
He had recently gotten engaged just days before his death.
