The Knox County Sheriff’s office has released bodycam footage from an incident that led to an officer being shot earlier this month.
On July 5th, Deputy Lydia Driver was accidentally shot by her partner, Deputy Jordan Hurst and the newly released video provides insight into how the accident occurred.
That night, officers responded to a home to serve a warrant to Ashely Weber for identity theft and forgery charges when they were charged by a dog.
As the videos begin a dog can be heard barking as officers approach the house.
The dog targeted Deputy Driver, taking her to the ground and her partner, Hurst, fired at the dog.
Driver is heard screaming in pain after the shots were fired, striking her in her upper leg.
After screaming, “I’ve been shot,” officers began providing aid.
After placing a tourniquet on her leg, officers helped her walk back to a patrol car.
According to ABC6, Driver was released from the hospital on July 11 and began the physical rehabilitation process.
The Office of Professional Standards has concluded that no general orders were violated while all of this was unfolding.
