Dangerous and drink driving charge, Worongary

A 23-year-old Ashmore man has been charged after allegedly driving dangerously on the Gold Coast last night (June 24).

It will be alleged at approximately 9pm patrolling police observed a vehicle driving at high speed and displaying false number plates on Gooding Drive at Merrimac.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle and it failed to stop.

Polair1 tracked the sedan relaying information to police on the ground with the vehicle stopping in Lexington Drive, Worongary.

The male driver and sole occupant fled on foot.

A police dog tracked the man locating him hiding under a car in a carport of a nearby property. The man was taken into custody and received first aid for a minor dog bite.

He was transported to Southport Watchhouse where he provided a specimen of breath for analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.09% and charged with driving over the general alcohol limit but not over the middle alcohol limit.

He was further charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, disqualified and unlicenced driving, unregistered vehicle, uninsured vehicle, failing to stop at red light, fail to comply with requirement to stop, obstruct police, possess drug utensils and possessing dangerous drugs (cannabis).

He is expected to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on July 7.
