Jul. 29—STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A New Jersey councilwoman was allegedly caught on surveillance video hitting a cyclist with her SUV, knocking him off his bike and then proceeding to drive away without stopping, according to multiple media reports.
Jersey City Councilwoman Amy DeGise was captured on video hitting Andrew Black on July 19 at around 8 a.m., causing the cyclist to be hurled over the SUV’s hood as he fell to the ground, hudpost.com. reported.
The councilwoman, driving a Nissan Rogue, continues to drive away in the footage. The incident occurred at Martin Luther King Drive and Forrest Street in Jersey City.
A Twitter user posted the video of the crash with the tweet “Resign. Now.,” directed at the councilwoman.

Black was not seriously injured in the incident — he was able to get to his feet after he was struck — but voiced his displeasure that the councilwoman did not stop following the crash.
“I look left, suddenly I just hear ‘Ba[m].’ I get hit,” Black, a UberEats deliveryman, told hudpost.com. “I roll over and I’m in such pain.”
From security camera footage, Black can be seen going through a red light at the time of the crash. DeGise has been given a summons for leaving the scene of an accident, N.J.com reported.
