5 Officer Safety Tips

As a patrol officer you undoubtedly have prepared yourself for the mean streets of America using every precaution you can think of. Or, have you?  Here are 5 simple officer safety tips which may help you in your tour of duty.

  • Tape an extra handcuff in the trunk of your car
  • Sow in an extra handcuff key in the inside of your trouser waistband
  • Place an extra magazine in the left passenger door compartment
  • Place an extra magazine in the trunk of your car
  • Carry a back-up weapon in the back of your body amor

Yes, these are 5 simple officer safety tips which may one day save your life.  I will leave the imagination up to the each of you, however, these steps could very well save your life in the moment of peril.  Yes, there are hundred different ideas but my point here is you can come up with ideas while in situations that you must take action and incorporate them into your everyday thinking.  Remember, it will happen when you least expect it, as if you expected it, it would probably never happen.  Take the time to protect yourself and use officer safety techniques to your full advantage.  In police work, we always think it will not happen to us and its always the other guy, well I have news for the each of you….don’t believe it!  Please keep in good shape and eat wholesome foods to keep up your stamina and endurance when faced with hand-to-hand combat situations.  Or, situations where you are overtaken by one or more individuals. It is imperative you are in good physical condition because when the time comes it may be a matter of life and death.  With all the ground fighters who specialize in Brazilian jujitsu you’d better be ready to fight for your life!
